9th Session of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration
The ninth session of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration, to be held from 19 to 23 April 2010, will focus on how public administration can cope with the current challenges and regard them as opportunities for structural overhaul and reform.

International Conference of Innovative Cities
The International Conference of Innovative Cities will be held in Curitiba, Brazil on 10-13 March 2010. The Conference is organized by the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná, counting on institutional sponsorship of UNDESA and the World Bank, among others. The Conference will discuss networking for promoting innovations in cities and public administration in all regions, counting on a set of high-level speakers including mayors, entrepreneurs, authors and experienced practitioners.

UNDESA announces the launch of the 2010 World Public Sector Report
The 2010 World Public Sector Report brings to the fore a very critical issue - how to reconstruct public administration in post-conflict situations so as to enable it to promote peace and development in countries that have been affected by civil war and destruction. It is a question that has remained unresolved for decades and has brought poverty, despair, and death to people in many corners of the world.

UNPAN 2010 Courses now available...

1st e-Gulf Awards Conference, Sultanate of Oman
The Sultanate of Oman will host the first-ever Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) e-government conference in December, recognising the rapid growth of the e-government sector in Oman and the country’s growing advancement in its delivery of electronic services (e-services) to its citizens and residents. The conference will be held at Al Bustan Palace Hotel in Muscat from December 21-23, 2009. The three-day event will also feature an exhibition on e-Governance projects from the six GCC countries and culminate in the awarding of the first e-Gulf Award that will recognise excellence in the delivery of e-Projects and e-Services in the GCC. Ms. Adriana Alberti, Coordinator of the United Nations Public Service Awards Programme, DPADM and Mr. Richard Kerby, Senior Inter-regional Adviser will make a presentation respectively on "Innovation in Governance and Public Administration" and on "E-participation and Citizen Engagement in the GCC".

In the article Mr. Sha Zukang, USG of DESA was quoted as saying “For Parliaments, the benefits of ICT can be enormous. Roundtable on Governance and Applications of ICTs for Achieving the MDGs in the Asia-Pacific region

The Roundtable on Governance and Applications of ICTs for Achieving the MDGs in the Asia-Pacific region will take place in Bangkok, Thailand from 9 to 10 December 2009. The themes of the roundtable are: Governance with effective applications of ICT to achieve the MDGs; Partnership building for good governance with the use of ICT to achieve the MDGs; Sub-national, national, and international networks of stakeholders capable of contributing to the establishment of a Knowledge Base on the uses of ICT for good governance and for achieving the MDGs.
